race report for 6/27/09

Posted: June 29, 2009 at 10:39 PM
Another great run for the #4 Saturday night as we where able to get another top 5 finish at Canandaigua Speedway. Starting in the 13th position we made fast moves to get to the front of the pack getting into the top five by lap 6. Coming up a bit short at the end of the race we passed the # 17 for 2nd with 2 laps to go. White flag lap I gave it all we had and washed out of turn four just enough for the 76 of Bussy to get beside us nose to nose at the line. We came home a respective 3rd place which was great as it was double points night at the speedway. This will now put us in 3rd place in points and we will look to further that next week. Congradulations to #29 Greg Birosh as he scored his first ever win in a sportsman modified. See you at the races..... Hollywood

Awesome night of racing, we went from 8th to 1st in 6 laps and held the lead for the entire race until 2 laps to go. We should have won this race but second place Rizzardo pushed me into a lap car breaking my momentum. We came home in 4th. Hollywood

Action continued as the Sportsman division rolled out onto the track for the LaBatt 25 with a strong field of 28 contenders all hungry for that top spot. Daryl Hilkert started the night in the pole position but Ryan Susice in the Investor Service/Tim Phillips Garage sponsored #38k soon showed complete dominance, pulling out in front of the field after a lap 4 restart. As cautions continued to plague the night’s feature, Susice maintains the lead spot going into lap 10, as Dan Wiesner of Geneva, N.Y. worked his way from a sixth place start to take third by the conclusion of turn 4. And as the laps began to fall, the track got hotter and hotter as drivers reached their fastest laps with each completion around the bullring. With 7 laps to go, it would be Wiesner in the #66 that would put the nail in the coffin of Susice’s ride, ultimately taking the lead and checkered flag despite Susice commanding performance throughout the feature. Top Five: Wiesner, Susice, Steve Gray, Rob Bussey, and Kevin Ridley.

We will be back at Canandaigua for round 2 of the 2009 race season this Saturday night, racing starts at 7:00 gated open at 5:00. Hope to see you all at the track. Hollywood

WELCOME 2009 RACE SEASON

|
Posted: April 13, 2009 at 08:04 AM
This Saturday night at Canandaigua Speedway will be the start of the 2009 race season. Although we have already ran one race this year at Blackrock Speedway (tour opener) this weekend will kick off our regular season for the year. The new photos are from Blackrock where we actually started off pretty decent, 5th in the heat and winning the last chance consolation race. This was the roughest track ever raced on and numerous crashes and flat tires sent many to the pits including us, we came home in 26th position. We are not certain on where or when we are planning to run this season but will keep you posted on where and when we will be racing. Hollywood

Hey race fans..... Sorry I have not posted in a while, but let me get you up to speed on the happenings from the "Bullet Racing Team"... Our last race at Canandaigua Speedway, Sept. 20 we lost a motor taking us right out of the tour challenge as we did not get to start the feature. Now, we have made the decision that we will be at "Super Dirt Week" at the Moody Mile in Syracuse. The 2007 TEO Pro Car is in the fab shop getting a new syracuse body and then going to Ewing Graphics for some new lettering. We are purchasing a new motor from Hoselton Auto Mall and the team is just as excited as I am, since we have never ran the Moody Mile. Tomorrow we will be at Rolling Wheels Raceway and next week we will run the tour race at Fulton Speedway. We will be running our 2005 TEO car at these races with our blue and yellow paint sceme. Hope to see all our fans at the races.... Hollywood

points season ending
|
|
Posted: August 28, 2008 at 05:22 PM
This weekend will be last home track points night for us at Canandaigua and Cayuga County Speedways. As a result of top 5 finishes in our last 3 starts we have moved into 5th place at Cayuga County and hope to hold on to it as season ends this Sunday. Our points battle at Canandaigua could get interesting if DIRT opts to give us our points that wrongly took from us 4 weeks ago. We have been running top 5 all season untill a faulty distributor disqualification took us out of the running. We have asked that our points be reinstated and we are in BIG hopes that they compromise with us as we are the ONLY team to loose points and money for the same panalty given to a handful of others this season. If points are reinstated we will be less than 10 point from 5th place. Last Saturday we had a last lap upset as we led 24 1/2 laps of the 25 lap feature. Getting passed on the last lap was definately not what we where hoping for but the 2nd place finish helped bring the crews racing spirit back to life. We will be at Canandaigua this Saturday to try once again to get our 2nd victory of the season. Monday will be a series race at Rolling Wheels Speedway, we will be there to regain our tour statice as tour season will be in full swing after this week. I will keep everyone updated as to where we will be racing so you all can be there to support us. See you at the races Hollywood

By now many of you may have already heard about our team being banned from Blackrock Speedway. Now, to bring you all up to speed on what happened. Last Friday night 7-18-08 we finished 4th in our feature event. After all top 5 cars went through tech inspection I was asked to wait on loading my car to leave as the tech inspector was curious about some scrape marks on my intake manifold (which have been there all season, due to the motor being freshend by DIRT official Scott Fremouw). At this time, Blackrock officials told me that I had to leave my car locked in my hauler and put into their barn till Saturday morning when DIRT officials could come and run tests on the motor. I had absolutely no problem with that. Ater calling DIRTs general manager Jack Deery, I was told by him that nobody from DIRT was going to do any tech for Blackrock as they have their own tech officials. I unloaded my car in the tech barn as instructed by Deery so Blackrock officials could run their own test or tech whatever they wanted. After talking with Mark (Blackrocks head tech guy) he informed me that there was no test he could run that would find anything whether he did not have the tools or the knowlege I don't now. I told Deery that they told me if I left that I would be disqualified from that event and he told me that I would just have to appeal the disqualification. Not till Saturday morning when I called Scott Fremouw did I find out that Blackrock decided to not only disqualify me from that race but ban me from the speedway for the remainder of the season. Since then, I have talked with numerous people but can't seem to get anywhere. How conveinient it is for our race director to be on vacation this week and not have anyone with any control to help us with this situation. After talking with Dean Hoag yesterday, he was still not willing to overturn the call until he could talk with Cory Reed who just happens to be our race director thats on vacation. So, my appologies to all our loyal fans that come to watch us race at the Blackrock facility, but by the looks of things at this point in time, we are done racing at Blackrock for the season. Don't hesitate to come see us at Canandaigua Speedway and Cayuga County Speedway as we will still be racing at those tracks for the rest of the year. I would also like to appologise to my crew and sponsors that have supported me this season, this is a real upset as we where 3rd in points and just a real harsh penalty that was not nessesary. I will update this page with any changes that may follow. HOLLYWOOD

crash fest at canandaigua
|
|
Posted: June 10, 2008 at 03:57 PM
This past weekend was not a good weekend for us at Bullet Racing. We had the night off from racing at Blackrock on Friday, but Canandaigua Saturday night was nothing more than a crash fest. Getting spun out on the first lap put us to the rear of the feild. More crashing helped us get to the front into fourth place. numerous crashing put us into the pits with broken steering. the crew fixed the car and got us back into action just befor the big pile up that about destroyed the car for the second time this year. Sunday, at weedsport we had an awesome car but once again, got put into the turn four wall by another driver as we were going for third place. this resulted in me losing the left front wheel off the car. feature #2 we started 23rd and triumphed back to a top 10 finishing 9th. Both cars will be in the race shop getting total overhauls this week. we will be at the races at all three tracks this weekend. see ya at the races. Hollywood

Mother nature once again took over our racing for Friday night at Blackrock Speedway and Sunday at Cayuga County Speedway, but held out for us at Canandaigua Speedway Saturday night as we where able to win our first sportsman race at Canandaigua. The track was perfect and the car was better than ever. Despite the wild crash opening night, our crew was able to rebuild this car and it really works awesome now. I would like to thank all the fans that have been in touch since Saturday night, you guys make it all worth doing. Next weekend will be full of racing as the weather is looking good and we will be racing all four tracks friday trough monday. hope to see you all at the races. Hollywood

Posted: April 29, 2008 at 09:32 AM
Friday night at Blackrock Speedway started off great with a heat race win from the 5th place starting posision. The feature was not as successful as we had a right front brake rotor set up making the car hard to handle and we had to settle for a 7th place finish. Saturday at Canandaigua Speedway was a wash out due to heavy rain. Sunday at Cayuga County Speedway was a good day for us as we where able to bring home a 3th place finish from the 7th place starting position. The track was absolutely awesome. Our new 2007 Teo Pro Car is in the fabrication shop getting repairs from our bad crash we had at Canandaigua Speedway on opening day. Hopefully we will have the car ready for testing within the next couple weeks. The car sustained major damage and will be brought out with a whole new look. Don't forget to sign in at the guestbook, We enjoy all our fans keeping in touch.

2008 Season opener
|
|
Posted: April 25, 2008 at 11:26 AM
A wild weekend of racing for the season opener for the Bullet Racing Team. Friday night at Blackrock was a good night as we opened up our season with a 4th place finish and started the season off with a tie for 3rd place in points. Saturday would not be as successful as we had the worst crash of my career. The car was very tight in the heat race and the crew had their work cut out for them to get the car to handle in the feature. At the drop of the green, as i entered the first turn i noew the changes where very successful as we were able to drive the car from the 9th place starting possision into the top 5 and then to 4th. A lap 13 caution restart had another driver drive into the side of us blowing out the right rear tire. another great pit stop by the crew put us back onto the track on the lead lap start, BUT as the 52 car hooked a rut coming out of turn 4 put him into a slide in front of the whole field of cars. Needless to say, I was right there and the crashing began. As cars piled up I was sent into the air spinning on top of another car and then barrel rolling when we made it back down to the track. Pictures of the car can be seen in the photo gallery section. We then set our focus on Cayuga County Speedway for Sunday and came home in 15th place, again not what we had hoped for. I would like to thank everyone who visited us in the pits and the phone calls making sure i was ok. That really means alot to us at Bullet Racing. Hope to see you all at the tracks this weekend as we will give it another shot at the checkered flag. Hollywood

Thanks to Zip, Jay Fish, Craig S. Nelson and ThreeHamsters.com for the photos this past weekend. The web guy will get the 2008 gallery started soon and keep everyone posted on the happenings around here at Bullet Racing.
This past weekend at Black Rock didn't go exactly as we had hoped. We won our heat but tore up a lot of equipment in the feature. A soft tire resulted in us being sent to the pits and took us out of the running.
You might see us this weekend in the practice session at Canandaigua otherwise full racing starts in 2 weeks.
Thanks for stopping by!

In less than five days, on Saturday April 5th, the DIRT Sportsman Tour comes to Black Rock Speedway. Black Rock is our Friday night home track throughout the season and always offers some good racing. General Admission Adult Grandstand tickets will be running at $15 and the night will showcase two 50 lap feature races - each paying $5,000 to win.
This past weekend was the Arnot Mall Car Show and we went through nearly every promo item we brought in. Thanks to everyone who took time and visit with us while viewing the new 2008 paint scheme. We hope to see some of those window stickers in the parking lot Saturday when we come through.
Take care.

Hey folks, the 2008 racing season is right around the corner! This coming weekend, March 29 & 30 drop by the Arnot Mall in Horseheads, N.Y. to see the new look of Bullet Racing’s #4 Sportsman. Ewing Graphics has done an incredible job that has to be seen in person to appreciate.
Our sponsors Rochester Gypsum, The Leather Depot, Autogenesis, Community Bank, J.D. Chapman, Pond Tile & Marble and Ewing Graphics all look great on this car as expected. One of the cooler things this year is the multi-dimensional graphic work and reflective diamond plate graphics. This car will light up under the Friday Night Lights of Black Rock Speedway.
While you’re here listen to the interview Doug Elkins conducted earlier in the week by clicking on the link along the lower right side of the page.
For anyone who wants to leave a comment about the car's new look just drop by our Guestbook Page.

If you are looking at one of the pictures right now, then you realize the there IS a better way to start the new year -- by sponsoring the #4 of Bullet Racing! As you'll notice those panels are still bare which means there is time to get your business' name on the car.

Hey folks, I spoke with Daryl today and he filled me in on some of the happenings with Bullet Racing.
They had a great time at the swap meet last week despite the rain. Thanks goes out to everyone who dropped by and especially to those of you who parted with some of your cash. Sounds like the Teos are off the For Sale block but some extra equipment will be in the Classifieds section soon.
Meanwhile, the cars are getting new panels and for 2008 they will have a different color scheme. I'll get some photos up here as soon as they're ready.
A reminder to all of you business owners out there checking out the latest Bullet Racing News: sponsorship = advertising = more customers.
NASCAR, IRL, and others have employed this program well. The trickle-down affect has found it's way to the dirt track and we'd love to talk with you. Visit our Contact page if you're interested.

Hey race fans there's some excitement coming up this weekend with Bullet Racing. We'll be at Black Rock Speedway on both Friday and Saturday doing what we do best - having fun.
Here's some items from their Press Release
October 12th
The Sportsman All-Star Challenge has gained plenty of momentum over the weeks. The unique quality of 1-on-1 racing for two laps each in a bracket format. Eligible for this event are any competitors that have finished in the top-3 in points at their 2007 track, regardless of the speedway’s affiliation. The winner of the event will pick up at least $500.
There will also be a Sportsman open on Friday Night, paying $500-to-win. This event is open to any competitors, provided that they meet the current DIRT Sportsman rules. This event is open to open motors.
October 13th
The next night, the largest-paying Sportsman race of the year will be run, as the Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman Series comes in for the $5,000-to-win 55-lap event. The event is open to open and crate motors alike, provided they run under DIRT rules. This should be a huge car count for this major event.

Okay, well...what about some more racing? The points season has ended but that doesn't mean we're lounging around the shop watching the cars collect dust.
It's tour time and we're making the rounds so if you see DIRT Sportsman listed on the schedule then you can expect the #4 to be kicking up dirt come race time. We'll try to get some of the upcoming dates on here this week.
Thanks for dropping by....take care.

Friday was an awesome night of racing at Blackrock. finishing second in our heat race and also finishing second on the last lap of the feature put us a little closer to the points leader. We are now just 15 points from the leader. Although we are still in third place we are definately in striking distance. The luck we have needed has come our way for the time being, hopefully it's here to stay. Saturday we didn't have such a good night. we tried the setup from friday and it didnt work so well at Canandaigua. spinning to avoid a crash then getting hit by another car sent us to yhe pits for repairs. We where able to get out and finish the race but to only get back to the 15th position. We will be back at Blackrock on Friday but have the night off Saturday for the Ontario County Fair. Other classes will be running at the speedway but no open wheel mods. I have no idea why the track decided to run classes that don't run there on a regular basis on a night that alot more people would be there, but we can't figure out alot of what the promoters are thinking and doing anyway... your feedback is appreciated. race report for 7/13 & 7/14

|
Posted: July 19, 2007 at 02:16 PM
regular weekend of racing at Blackrock and Canandaigua this week was fair but not perfect. Friday we where able to stay in the top 5 finishing in 4th place. This was good enough to put us 3rd in point and gained on the points leader to get within 19 points of the lead. We will have to be almost perfect to capture the championship at this track. Bad luck for others would definately be in our favor. The compatition at Blackrock is very strong and the drivers are clean to race. The same can not be said for Canandaigua, as the race was rain delayed at lap eleven to end the night of racing. We started 7th and where running in the 9th place position when the rain came down. We only lost a couple of positions where lost because of rough riders but we wont mention any names. The drivers at Canandaigua need to learn the difference between racing and demo. These drivers know who they are and will do anything to get by. We called Canandaigua our home track for the last 6 years but not anymore. Blackrock is our home track where you get respect from both the track and other drivers, the same can not be said for Canandaigua. All your input is greatly appreciated and we are glad to get all responces from everybody, posative or negative. thanks to all "Hollywood"

Sorry for not posting lately but we've been super busy. The new picture at the top of this page is the accual side of our hauler. As you know we had last Friday off at Blackrock for the first tour race of 2007 at Brewerton speedway. We did make it to the show at Brewerton and it wasn't our favorite track to say the least. With over 40 sportsman cars gunning for a qualified spot you had to draw a good starting spot and we didn't. We started 8th in the consilation race and had to finish 4th to get in, we finished 4th. Started 28th and finished 19th and brought home the new car all banged up, to say the least. Saturday was just another day of racing at Canandaigua, we started 7th and finished 6th so no big news from there. Doug from Dougs Dirt Diary was at Canandaigua and took some pictures and an interveiw after our heat race win, check them out at dougsdirtdiary.com

Despite the rainy weather Friday night we where still able to get our feature in at Blackrock Speedway. As the sky grew dark and everyone started loading cars the pitt stewart called us to the line up shoot. With lightning flashing we entered the track and ran green to checkers to just beat the rain. Starting fourth and finishing second for our best finish this season. Congradulations to Gerg Hixon as he picked up his first win of the season. Saturday nights weather was much better and the racing was awesome. Starting seventh and finishing third topped off our successful weekend of racing. Our hauler is completed with a full wrap and is a must see. Check it out at Autogenesis on 332 in Canandaigua this week or see it at the tracks this weekend. We will have photos coming soon. Remember the pitts are always open in Canandaigua after the races are over. Stop by and say hi. Till next time Hollywood

One tough weekend of racing for the Bullet Race Team. We are still trying to work the bugs out of the new car and think we just about got it except for some fine tuning. Although we struggled alot this weekend, the crew and myself are in full gear for the upcomming weekend at Blackrock and Canandaigua as there will not be any mods at either track. Sportsman will be at both tracks with twin features at Canandigua and monster trucks at Blackrock. I would like to thank all the race fans that have been visiting this site and appreciate your e-mails. I will try to respond to all of you as I get time. Hollywood

Visitors at the Shop

Craig Nelson from Craig S. Nelson Photographics dropped by the shop last week.
While there he took a bunch of photos while we tore down the cars from the previous weekend fun. Look for updates to the Shop page in the semi-near future. Then you'll see it's not 100% fun-and-games all week preparing for the races.
For those that made it to Canandaigua we hope you enjoyed the race. Look for us at Black Rock on Friday this week and Canandaigua on Saturday.

More changes are taking place here at the online home of Bullet Racing. This week we have some photos up on the Team page from Friday night at Black Rock Speedway. For those of you keeping track at home you'll notice that Saturday night in Canandaigua was much better than the previous week. Thanks for stopping by and we'll get some more info up soon!

With the way the weekend weather has been lately there hasn't been too much news to pass along. That doesn't mean we're not busy! Just the opposite is true...and all of the "busy-ness" isn't just cleaning mud off of the car. Drop by our Galleries page for some more photos from Craig Nelson at Black Rock Speedway on April 20th.

Welcome to the newest version of Bullet Racing on the web featuring Daryl "Hollywood" Hilkert.
The site is fairly sparse at the moment but will be filling up quickly as the new racing season kicks off. As you can see we already have one race under our belts for 2007. The plan is for us to run at Black Rock on Fridays and Canandaigua on Saturdays throughout the season.
There’s an audio file under the “In the News” section on the right and we have a handful of pictures up in the Galleries section for you to enjoy.
See you soon!
